Study in UK - Apply now for The Rhodes Global Scholarship 2027.

If you have ever dreamed of pursuing postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford, but your home country does not have an established Rhodes constituency, there is incredible news: the Rhodes Global Scholarship is designed specifically for you.

The Rhodes Trust expanded its reach to ensure that extraordinary candidates from any country in the world can apply to become Rhodes Scholars. The Global Scholarship seeks young leaders of exceptional intellect, courage, and character who are committed to making a meaningful impact on society—regardless of their geographical origin.

Covering full Oxford tuition, living costs, visas, and international flights, this prestigious award removes financial barriers so you can focus entirely on your academic and leadership journey.

At a Glance: Scholarship Summary

Here is a quick breakdown of what the Rhodes Global Scholarship offers:

  • Host University: University of Oxford, United Kingdom
  • Eligible Degrees: Master's (MSc, MSt, MPhil) or PhD (DPhil) programs across all academic disciplines
  • Target Audience: Citizens of countries that do not have a dedicated Rhodes Constituency

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Rhodes Global Scholarship 2027, applicants must meet strict criteria regarding citizenship, age, academic achievement, and character:

1. Global Constituency Rule

You are only eligible for the Global Scholarship if you cannot apply through any existing Rhodes constituency (e.g., India, USA, Commonwealth countries, etc.).

  • Note: If you have strong ties to a specific constituency but fall just outside its criteria, look into "inter-jurisdictional consideration" rather than the Global route.

2. Age Brackets (As of October 1, 2026)

Applicants must fit into one of the following age brackets:

  • Standard Applicants: Aged 18–24 (born after October 1, 2002, and before October 2, 2008).
  • Medical Students: Aged 18–25 for medical candidates completing a compulsory professional internship (born after October 1, 2000, and before October 2, 2008).
  • Older/Non-Traditional Applicants: Aged under 27 (born after October 1, 1999) and completed your first undergraduate degree on or after October 1, 2024.

3. Academic Standing

  • Must hold (or be on track to complete by July 2026) an undergraduate degree (Bachelor's).
  • Given the extreme competition for Oxford places, candidates stand the best chance of success if they hold a First Class Honours degree or a cumulative GPA of 3.70 / 4.0 or higher.

Required Application Documents

Preparing a competitive Rhodes application takes significant time and reflection. You will need to submit:

  1. Personal & Educational Details: Transcripts and proof of degree completion.
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV): Detailing academic performance, leadership, voluntary service, and achievements.
  3. Personal Statement: A self-authored essay articulating your values, character, motivation, and vision for impact.
  4. Academic Statement: Detailing your academic interests and intended Oxford course choice(s).
  5. Four Letters of Reference: Written by academic and professional referees who can speak to your intellect, character, and service.

Step-by-Step Application Roadmap

Unlike standard university applications where you apply to the school first, the Rhodes Global track reverses the process:

Step 1: Complete the Eligibility Test

Visit the official Rhodes Trust Global Scholarship webpage and take the initial online eligibility test to confirm that you qualify for the Global track.

Step 2: Request Nomination (Where Applicable)

If required by your region, secure a nomination from your current university or designated nominating body.

Step 3: Complete the Online Rhodes Application

Fill in the online scholarship portal, upload your CV, personal statement, academic statement, and transcripts, and submit contact details for your 4 referees. No application fee is required.

Step 4: Interview & Selection

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for regional/global interviews and a social engagement with the selection committee.

Step 5: Oxford Course Application (With Rhodes Support)

If you are selected as a Rhodes Scholar-elect, the Rhodes House team will guide and support you through submitting your formal application to the University of Oxford, waiving your course application fee!
