Study in Italy - Applications are now open for the fully funded Italy Government Scholarship 2025-2026

Have you ever dreamed of studying in Italy—land of art, history, fashion, and exceptional food? If so, the Italy Government Scholarship 2025–2026 might just be your golden ticket. Designed for ambitious international students, this fully funded scholarship opens the doors to some of Italy’s most prestigious universities, offering support for Master’s and PhD degrees, as well as AFAM programs in arts, music, and dance.

What Makes This Scholarship Special?

Offered by Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), this program is more than just financial support—it’s a chance to dive into a rich academic and cultural experience. Notably, the initiative supports students from 141 eligible countries, aiming to strengthen international partnerships in education, science, technology, and cultural exchange.

Although the scholarship is competitive, it favors candidates who combine strong academic records with clear financial need and a desire to contribute to their home countries’ development. And yes—your journey in Italy could begin sooner than you think.

Who Can Apply?

Before starting your application, it’s essential to understand the eligibility requirements. Here’s a breakdown:

  • Academic Requirements: You must hold a bachelor’s degree to apply for a master’s scholarship and a master’s degree to qualify for the PhD program.

  • Age Criteria: Applicants for the master’s track must be under 28, while PhD candidates should be no older than 30 at the time of application.

  • Language Proficiency:

    • If your program is in English, a university-issued certificate of proficiency will suffice.

    • For programs taught in Italian, an Italian language certificate is required.

  • Other Criteria: Students must show an excellent academic background, demonstrate financial need, and be citizens of one of the MAECI-eligible countries.

Clearly, careful preparation will improve your chances of securing this prestigious scholarship.

What Does the Italy Government Scholarship Cover?

Let’s talk benefits—because this isn’t your average scholarship. Here’s what the Italian Government is offering:

  • Tuition Fees: Coverage depends on your chosen university’s policies.

  • Living Stipend: A generous €9,000 is granted in three parts—€4,500 initially, followed by €2,500 and €2,000 in subsequent installments.

  • Health Insurance: Full coverage for the entire stay.

  • Language Training: Access to an Italian language course to support your cultural and academic transition.

  • Enrichment: The chance to live, study, and explore Italy’s vibrant landscapes and historical treasures.

With all these perks, the scholarship truly ensures that your time in Italy is not just academically enriching but also culturally immersive.

Program Duration

The MAECI scholarship covers a 9-month academic period, whether you're pursuing a master’s, a PhD, or an AFAM (Higher Education in Arts, Music, and Dance) course. However, admission to an Italian university is mandatory to receive funding.

Although the application to the university and the scholarship is handled separately, admission must be secured by all selected students.
