  • Financial Award: Recipients receive between €3,000 and €22,000 per year. This can be applied toward tuition fees, living expenses, or other study-related costs.
  • Renewal: If you are in a two-year Master's program, you may receive the scholarship for the second year if you maintain a high academic standing (at least an average grade of 7 or 8 depending on the program).
  • Kipaji Scholarship: Top-tier candidates from developing countries who are awarded the UTS may also be eligible for the Kipaji Scholarship, which provides an additional €12,000 to further support their studies.

​Eligibility Requirements

​To be considered for the 2026 intake, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Nationality: You must be a citizen of a non-EU/EEA country.
  2. Admission Status: You must first be (provisionally) admitted to one of the qualifying Master's programs at the University of Twente for the 2026 academic year.
  3. Academic Excellence: You must belong to the top 5% to 10% of your class.
  4. Language Proficiency:
    • IELTS: Minimum score of 6.5.
    • TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 90.
  5. Visa: You must meet the requirements for obtaining a Dutch entry visa or residence permit.

​How to Apply (Step-by-Step)

​The application for the scholarship is separate from the application for admission to the university.

  1. Apply for a Master’s Program: Submit your application for your chosen MSc program through Studielink.
  2. Receive Your Student Number: Once you have applied (and ideally received provisional admission), you will be assigned a UT Student Number.
  3. Apply for UTS: Use your student number to log in to the scholarship application portal.
  4. Submit Motivation: You will need to provide a motivation statement and potentially proof of your academic ranking.
  5. Final Submission: Ensure your scholarship application is finalized before the May 1, 2026 deadline.
